Professional Information
Raúl José Ventura‑Junca Domínguez holds a medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a specialization in Adult Psychiatry from Universidad de los Andes, a PhD in Neurosciences from Universidad de Chile, and a Master's in Marriage and Family from Universidad de Navarra (Spain).
Since December 2021, he has served as an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at Facultad de Ciencias Sociales, Universidad de los Andes. He also contributes to the Perinatal Mental Health diploma program as an academic. He received the “Monseñor Carlos Casanueva” award as a distinguished Medicine graduate.
Research interests
His research focuses on mental health, genetics, epigenetics and its behavioral implications, stress and early trauma, and psychobiological underpinnings. He has studied gene variants and antidepressant response, prevalence of suicidal ideation in adolescents, and the long-term impact of early stress on brain-behavior relationships.
Teaching
At Universidad de los Andes, he teaches in the School of Psychology and supports mental health professional training, including in perinatal mental health programs. His academic work bridges clinical psychiatry with applied neuroscience research and family psychology.
