Resumen
Modern civilistics understands that one of the elements of inter-living donations is their irrevocability, since the donee definitively acquires what has been donated to him. However, this has not always been the case. The classic Roman donation had the distinctive note of being lucrative, which was equated to its irre- vocability. The objective of our study is to review, both the doctrine and the Roman sources, the meaning of each of these terms.
