Resumen
The affections of the foot in neuromuscular pathology of childhood are frequent. The main causes are spastic cerebral palsy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathy, spinal dysraphias, and muscular dystrophies. They require a multidisciplinary approach for their treatment, always privileging the functionality of the foot and the quality of life of the patient and his or her family. It is important to differentiate flexible deformities from structured ones since the treatment approach is different, being the flexible ones susceptible to conservative management with physiotherapy, orthosis, or corrective casts, reserving surgery for severe and structured muscle-tendon unit retractions and/or imbalances. Rigid deformities usually require surgical treatment through corrective osteotomies and/or arthrodesis.
