Resumen
The use of ankle joint preservation surgeries for patients with localized ankle osteoarthritis provides the possibility of gaining a longer ankle life especially important in this group of young post-traumatic patients. These patients do not wish to have limitations in their physical activity (frequent limitation of ankle replacements or fusions). In this group of patients, periarticular osteotomies provide an alternative to avoid and postpone joint resecting surgeries, preserving their native joint without compromising any future surgical alternatives.
