Resumen
The idea of understanding Latin American society depends, to a large extent, on the ability to recognize that the categories normally used do not reflect the cultural ethos. For this reason, this article focuses on the notion of legal fetishism. Thus, taking into consideration historical and etymological elements, theoretical aspects of the category and its reflections in Latin American political-legal relations are presented. Although a differentiation is made with the notion of institutional submission, this does not mean, as will be seen, that these categories are fully contradictory. Thus, by using a correlational methodology, the paper will give an account of the notions, differences, and echoes of these ways of sustaining conflict resolution in Latin American society.
