La relación de Maurice Merleau-Ponty con el cristianismo

The embodied conception of the person is highly relevant in Merleau- Ponty's philosophy. Because of this, he grants importance to the Incarnation of Jesus Christ as a determining factor in Christianity. His interest for this religion is expressed throughout his work, with different emphases and perspectives: sometimes a critical view is stressed, but other instances show a more constructive approach. This article analyzes Merleau-Ponty's relationship with the Christian religion highlighting that God intervenes in the world, an act that, somehow, modifies the relationship between Father and Son. The philosopher offers an interesting interpretation to the Incarnation, suggesting questions to be solved in Christianity. For this reason, the last part of the article puts forward some answers to these questions from a Christian perspective. © 2018, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile.
