It is an honor for me to participate as guest editor of this edition of Revista Médica de Clínica Las Condes dedicated to Othology. I have chosen to write this introduction in a general form that is descriptive of the different subjects that are described in the scientific papers that follow. Due to the orientation of this journal –the scientific journal of higher circulation in Chile- the different subjects are described in such a way that they can be of interest to general practitioners and specialists alike.
