Resumen
The present article aims to show the relations of transtextuality between Gabriela Mistral's Desolation (1922), and some recurring themes of saint John of the Cross' “major poems”, such as the conception of death as a path towards true life, or the notion of pain and the consideration of nature as a reflection of God. In this context, the sources of the aforementioned transtextuality are explained.
