Resumen

In this editorial, we present a broad phenomenon that required more specific investigation. The specific topic we explore is the link between technologies and addiction. In line with the focus of Computers & Education, we propose that research is needed to examine how pedagogical use of technologies is associated with addiction and other negative health effects. Our objective is to draw attention to this issue amongst our research community. In a world of increased interactivity, we invite researchers to study how we can understand and manage the potentially negative effects of excessive use of screens, while making sound use of technology inside and outside the classroom. We suggest a way forward by proposing a research agenda that could begin to address these issues.
