Resumen
The aim of this study was to adapt and validate the Chilean version of a questionnaire that allows to assess the Development of Identity in Adolescents (AIDA), as well as propose a two-factor structure model. The sample consisted of 725 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 years old, belonging to different socioeconomic levels from Santiago, Chile. A Bifactor model using Exploratory Structural Equation analyzes were performed to estimate a general factor (Identity Diffusion), and six specific factors that absorb residual variability of this main factor. The results indicated a high internal consistency for the total score (.94), as well as moderate to high for almost all sub-factors, except one of them. It was possible to conclude that the Chilean AIDA has a good reliability and, an adequate concurrent and discriminative validity that can be a use to differentiate adolescents with an integrated identity from those with an identity diffusion, emphasizing that identity is a multidimensional construct that must be measured under this assumption.
