Detalles del proyecto

This project proposes to develop, validate, and verify novel methodologies for structural health monitoring (SHM) and damage identification (DID) methodologies for civil structures subjected to earthquake loads. The methodologies link high-fidelity mechanics-based nonlinear finite element (FE) models and Bayesian inference methods. This SHM approach is intended to provide a rapid assessment of the potential damage in the structure. Information about presence, location, type, and extent of damage will be obtained from the updated nonlinear mechanics-based FE model of the monitored structure and therefore the approach will provide a powerful tool for decision-making related to maintenance and inspections, disaster management, risk mitigation, public safety, and post-disaster rehabilitation and recovery.
