Abstract
Sustainability involves environmental, social, and economic dimensions forming the foundation for sustainable development. For 6G technologies, balancing these pillars is essential, focusing on '6G for Sustainability’ - leveraging 6G to enhance sustainability efforts across business sectors - and ‘Sustainable 6G’ - ensuring the system’s own sustainability. This chapter presents a use case-oriented methodology integrating technical, business, and sustainability evaluations, emphasizing key values and indicators. Stakeholder roles and interactions are analysed to align 6G development with societal needs. The Hexa-X-II project’s ecosystem-level business modelling approach, including a business model canvas, stakeholder analysis, and visualization, is also described. The overall aim is to minimize environmental impact while promoting long-term economic growth aligned with social and environmental priorities. Additionally, this chapter presents the 6G use case families and reference cases established by Hexa-X-II and describes the application of the use case and sustainability analysis methodology to the cooperating mobile robots use case.
