Abstract

The performance-based seismic design allows an understanding of the behavior of structures, relating damage limits and structural parameters to the capacity of the structures. These results provide tools to meet acceptable technical and economic objectives aimed at controlling the structural response and obtaining a given level of damage. This paper presents the seismic performance evaluation and compares the nonlinear behavior under monotonic loads of 27 structural typologies. These structures correspond to 4, 8, and 12-story steel moment frames, others with bracing configurations, such as chevron brace and multistory X-brace, and eccentrically braced frames. The analyses of this research are carried out using the CEINCI-LAB computer program, where new functions have been developed that, together with the OpenSees computer system, allow the execution of nonlinear analyses (Pushover) in a user-friendly interface. When evaluating the seismic performance level of the 27 typologies, under the established design conditions, it is determined that only 2 of the 27 structures (8 and 12 stories without bracing) suffer significant damage to their structural elements, however, they maintain a level of safety that will allow the structure to be functional after repairs or reinforcements. The remaining 25 typologies remain functional, so their operation can be recovered immediately.
