Abstract

The difficulties in understanding Latin American society are due to the application of categories that do not fully reflect the cultural ethos. From this idea, the present paper concretizes the notion of liturgical thought as a category to understand the Latin American context. Accordingly, taking elements of sociology of presence, it exposes aspects that identify that the way of rationalizing social relations in Latin America distances itself from the guidelines that are encompassed in ideological thinking. Although it is based on a differentiation between thoughts, this does not mean that it bets on a pejorative vision of any of them; on the contrary, only difference is recognized as a basis for the interpretation of social action. Therefore, using a correlational methodology, the text, in three sections, will give an account of the notions, differences and reflections of this thinking.
