Abstract
In the light of the regulations contained in the Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights, this paper analyzes whether or not there is a duty in Chile to assess the solvency of financial consumers. In its study, it looks at the development achieved in Europe, especially the recognition of “Responsible Lending” and how its guidelines have enabled progress to be made towards greater protection against over-indebtedness.
