Abstract

Hearing loss or hearing disabilities represents a prevalent condition in the population, affecting about 360 million people worldwide, determining different levels of disabilities ranging from physical disability to the social and psychological disability. The origin of the hearing loss may be different, know its causes and associated risk factors is essential for early diagnosis and early treatment. It is expected that the incidence and prevalence of hearing loss increase significantly in the coming years due to the phenomenon of demographic transition experienced worldwide. It is important that treatment and approach of these patients not only focus on hearing rehabilitation, it is also necessary counseling and education for adhesion and good results.
