Abstract
The editors are publishing this note to alert readers to concerns about this article (1). The veracity of the findings in this article is in question due to apparent instances of image duplication and irregularities within Western blots, including discordant rows and splices. These include: • Figures 2C and 6D appear to contain multiple duplicated bands in NS siRNA lanes, including rows: • 2C (P-E2F1 S364); 6D (E2F1) • 2C (FOXM1); 6D (FOXM1) • 2C (Cleaved PARP); 6D (Cleaved PARP) • 2C (Cleaved caspase 3); 6D (Cleaved caspase 3) • 2C (P-p53 S15); 6D (P-p53 S15) • Figure 3B: • Lane misalignment: Some rows have 8, 8.5, or 9 bands. • The first row appears to contain splices between bands 0 & 3, and 6 & 9. • Figures 2C and 5B appear to contain two duplicated rows: p38 & p-MK2 (T334). • Figure 2C, row p-E2F1 (S364), lanes NS siRNA, appears to be a duplicate of Fig. 6D, row E2F1, lanes NS siRNA. • Figures 3B and 5C appear to contain duplicated bands in rows MK2, lanes NS siRNA and MK1 siRNA. • Figure 5A appears to contain duplicated bands within the same row (FoxM1). Imperial College London, the institution of the corresponding author at the time of publication, is currently investigating these concerns and the journal will provide an update once a resolution has been reached.
