Abstract

This chapter describes a basic, simple, working classification of otitis media (OM) that serves as a means of communication to allow mutual understanding and meaningful comparison of experiences between professionals. This classification is not written in stone; however, it has represented for many years - in practical terms - a "consensus or general agreement" between clinicians and investigators.
