Abstract
Minimally invasive surgery involves the use of new surgical approaches with reduced morbidity, proper patient preparation for surgery, and the use of technology to enhance efficiency. In orthognathic surgery, there has also been a trend using minimally invasive techniques, with modifications in surgical approach, osteotomy designs, and rigid internal fixation strategies. One such innovation includes plate designs that allow for a smaller surgical approach while providing adequate stabilization. This report presents the use of a C-shaped plate to stabilize the zygomatic-maxillary buttress in maxillary osteotomy, along with an analysis of indications and associated surgical strategies.
