Accurate optical vortex identification in the presence of distortions using a Shack-Hartmann sensor

Abstract

We present and evaluate a robust method to identify orbital angular momentum states with a SH sensor for possible use in free-space optical communication links. Experimental verification using a 200m-range test bed is presented.
