Description
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of intensive periodontal treatment compared to conventional treatment on HbA1c levels in patients with periodontitis and uncontrolled type 2 diabetes (DM2).
Method: A centrally managed, randomized controlled trial with two parallel groups (1:1) will be conducted, involving patients from the San Bernardo Health Center at the University of los Andes. Fifty patients will receive intensive treatment and fifty will receive conventional treatment, with HbA1c levels as the primary outcome variable.
