Professional Information
Tatiana Vargas is a lawyer, and holds both a Master’s degree and a PhD in Law from the Universidad de los Andes, Chile.
She currently serves as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Law at Universidad de los Andes (Chile).
She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at several prestigious institutions, including the Universidad de Talca, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Universidad de los Andes.
She has also served as Director of the Department of Criminal Law, the Institute of Criminal Sciences, and the academic journal Doctrina y Jurisprudencia Penal.
Teaching
She teaches courses in Criminal Law and Research Seminar II.
Research interests
Her main areas of research include:
- Objective and subjective imputation in Criminal Law
- Abstract danger offenses and their significance in legal theory
- Criminal liability in the medical field, especially in cases of negligence
- Domestic and gender-based violence, particularly the role of the victim in criminal liability
- Juvenile criminal responsibility and youth justice
- Legal issues related to drug trafficking, road safety, environmental crimes, and document falsification
