Professional Information

Sergio Eduardo Quijada Figueroa is a retired Army Colonel and an Engineer. He was the founder of the Army’s Modeling and Simulation Center and served as Head of the Army’s Research and Development Department. He holds a degree from the Chilean Army Polytechnic School, a Master of Science, and a PhD from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, USA.

His most significant public achievement was the development of the FONDEF Project “SIGEN” (Computational Training System for Emergency and Disaster Management) in 2004, which was selected as one of the 21 most impactful projects in the history of FONDEF.

He has served as a technology advisor to the U.S. Army, a consultant to the Chilean Ministry of Energy, and is currently the Director of the Master of Engineering Management program at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of Universidad de los Andes.

He graduated at the top of his class from the Military School in the specialty of Artillery and received the President of the Republic Award for achieving first place in the Military Polytechnic Engineering Program. Throughout his academic career, he has been recognized as Best Professor at Universidad del Desarrollo, the Military Polytechnic Academy, and the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad de los Andes.
