Professional Information

SEBASTIÁN CONTRERAS AGUIRRE is full-time professor of Legal Philosophy in the Law School at the Universidad de los Andes (Chile). He received his BA in Philosophy and Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Chile (2010) and completed two PhDs in Philosophy, first at the Universidad de los Andes (2013) and afterwards at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (2015).

Research Interests

Contreras also works on theories of corrective justice in the Aristotelian Scholastic tradition, the classical natural law theory (Aristotle, Aquinas, Second-Scholasticism and Protestant-Scholasticism), the nature of practical reason, and the transition from Late-Scholasticism to Modern Natural Law, especially the influence of the late-scholastics in the theories of Grotius, Pufendorf and Wolff.
