Professional Information

Rodrigo Astroza is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the Universidad de los Andes in Chile. He got his Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Earthquake Engineering degrees from the University of Chile and a PhD. in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. He has published four books, nineteen book chapters, more than 50 research articles in Web of Science journals, and more than 100 papers in international conferences. Dr. Astroza has led several research and technology transfer projects related to structural health monitoring, structural engineering, and seismic response of civil structures. He has received many awards and recognitions including a Fulbright Fellowship (2010), Dissertation Fellowship Award from UC San Diego (2015), Outstanding paper award from Earthquake Spectra (2016), and the best paper award at IMAC conference (2020). His research interests include structural health monitoring, system identification of civil structures, theoretical and experimental dynamics of structures, earthquake engineering, inverse problems in structural engineering, finite element modeling, and seismic response of soil deposits.
