Medical Doctor (1980), specialist in General and Digestive Surgery. Master of Surgery at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (1984). He has been a Professor in undergraduate and graduate schools for over 30 years in leading institutions in Chile. Areas of focus: hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery, digestive pathologies and abdominal emergency surgeries. Medical investigations with more than 120 articles on indexed journals and various book chapters. Book editor of three comprehensive medical books: Abdomen Agudo, Manual de Urgencias y Complicaciones en Cirugía. Visiting Professor in leading medical institutions (Johns Hopkins Hospital; Massachussets General Hospital; School of Medicine of Universidad de Navarra, Spain).
