Personal profile

Professional Information

A Physical Therapist (Kinesiologist) graduated from Universidad de Talca, with a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad de Valparaíso. He currently serves as faculty and researcher at the School of Kinesiology, Universidad de los Andes, and is part of the Center for Healthy Aging and the Integrative Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology Laboratory (LIBFE) at UANDES.

He completed a research fellowship at the University of Birmingham, where he worked on high-density surface electromyography and neuromuscular signal processing to study muscular responses after eccentric exercise.

Research interests

His research focuses on sports biomechanics, movement analysis, and electromyographic activity—particularly in sedentary individuals undergoing eccentric exercise and amateur runners, studying musculoskeletal injuries in relation to foot muscle strength.

He also leads projects assessing shoulder biomechanics in Paralympic athletes using 3D technologies and surface EMG to characterize neuromuscular behavior, informing individualized training interventions.

Teaching

As a faculty member, he teaches courses in biomechanics, motion analysis, applied physics, and biological signal processing at the Kinesiology School. He supervises undergraduate theses and coordinates courses related to biomechanics and EMG.

His teaching integrates theoretical foundations with hands-on experience, including biomedical device development and EMG data analysis, providing students with robust practical training.
