Professional Information

Miguel Torres has served as Principal Investigator, Deputy Director, and Co-Investigator in grants funded by FONDECYT, FONDEF, and CYTED, supporting projects related to modular converters, electromobility, renewable energy integration, and HVDC systems.

He has been an active member of the IEEE since 2009, having chaired the Chilean Chapter of the IEEE Power and Energy Society, participated in the organization of international conferences, and moderated special sessions.

At the University of O’Higgins, he served as Head of the Electrical Engineering Program (2018–2021) and as a Member of the Academic Council (2019–2021).

His research interests lie in the areas of HVDC system control and modular systems for electric energy conversion and storage.

Since 2023, Miguel Torres has been an Assistant Professor at Universidad de los Andes, where he teaches courses in Power Electronics, Automatic Control, and Control of Power Converters.
