Research interests

His main research lines focus on the effect and efficacy of semioccluded vocal tract exercises for voice treatment and training. Numerous studies have been conducted to analyze aerodynamic, acoustic, morphometric, and perceptual changes related to these exercises. Additionally, randomized controlled clinical trials have evaluated different physiological therapeutic protocols for patients with voice disorders.

Research also includes vocal tract constrictions in professional voice users, contributing to the physiological understanding of this phenomenon during singing and speaking. This work significantly advances physiologically based voice rehabilitation.

Teaching

At the Speech-Language Pathology School of Universidad de los Andes, courses are taught on voice assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation. The teaching approach integrates theory and clinical practice to prepare skilled professionals for voice disorder treatment.

Additionally, participation as a guest lecturer in international postgraduate programs such as the University of Delaware (USA) and the University of Bologna (Italy) is part of his role. Active involvement in the Summer Vocology Institute and the Master of Clinical Vocology in Europe supports advanced training for voice specialists.
