Personal profile

Research interests

My primary research interests are cognitive development across the lifespan and how contextual variables impact developmental trajectories. To study this phenomenon I am working from the neuroconstructivist perspective with an interdisciplinary team of professionals with typical development and with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our work is centered in three main areas: (1) cognitive assessment of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), (2) impact of contextual variables in cognitive development and adaptive behaviour and, (3) multilevel programs oriented to promote social participation of persons with IDD. As contextual variables, we are particularly focused in the study of family variables, socio-economic status and quality of socio-cultural opportunities. With my team, we work to improve the public policies created to protect the rights of persons with IDD.
