Research Interests

Full Professor at Universidad de los Andes. I have worked in public health in Chile in the areas of tuberculosis, immuno-preventable diseases, vaccines, management of epidemic outbreaks such as measles, cholera, Invasive Meningococcal Disease W135; In each of them I have carried out relevant research on interventions that have impacted the country's health problems: abbreviated treatments for tuberculosis, diagnostic methods, implementing epidemiological surveillance systems, evaluating the impact of vaccines on the control and elimination of such diseases like Measles, the certification of the eradication of polio from the world, develop and implement Bioequivalence of medicines in Chile. I have been a collaborating member of the Sabin Vaccine Institute of the United States as well as a researcher in the area of immunizations of the Pan American Health Organization, executing studies on the burden of immunopreventable diseases and control measures for the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. I have shared the acquired experience in training workshops of the country's health teams and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at Universidad de Chile and Universidad de Los Andes.I am currently dedicated to research interventions to improve the quality of life, functional and cognitive capacity of the elderly.
