Dr. María Fernanda Garrido Oyarzún earned her medical degree from Universidad de los Andes in 2009 and completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the UANDES Faculty of Medicine and practices as a gynecologist at Clínica Universidad de los Andes, combining clinical work and academic teaching.
Her professional activity includes contributions to the “Adolescencia Temprana” program at Clínica UANDES, providing gynecological care for adolescents and women undergoing menopausal transition. Her clinical approach spans the spectrum of women’s reproductive health from early adolescence to menopause.
Her research focuses on pediatric and adolescent gynecology as well as menopausal care, particularly in clinical management of adolescent patients and women undergoing menopause. She has participated in clinical studies on labor induction techniques for fetal growth restriction, evaluating their efficacy and safety.
Her work integrates clinical practice with evidence-based analysis to advance women's reproductive healthcare.
At the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad de los Andes, Dr. Garrido is actively involved in teaching Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a focus on women's health during adolescence and menopause. Her academic work includes lectures, clinical seminars, and hands-on training, allowing her to connect clinical experience with student learning. She also contributes to the supervision of academic projects and participates in content integration that addresses both medical and psychosocial aspects of reproductive healthcare.
