I hold a degree in Journalism and Social Communication from Universidad de los Andes and an MA in History of Art from the University of Bristol (Becas Chile-CONICYT). I am currently pursuing a PhD in History at Universidad de los Andes, funded by ANID, with a focus on illustrated magazines from Santiago, Chile. My career has combined university teaching, research, and academic management. I have taught and continue to teach courses in art history, material culture, and heritage, and I have held coordination responsibilities in undergraduate, master’s, and diploma programs. I have been involved in organizing academic meetings and colloquia on art and cultural heritage. I have published in academic journals and presented papers at national and international conferences. I have also contributed to cultural dissemination through the media.

My research focuses on art history and visual-material culture in Chile and Latin America during the 19th and 20th centuries. My doctoral project examines illustrated magazines in Santiago and Valparaíso around the turn of the century, analyzing graphic illustration in relation to visual modernity and cultural circulation. Previously, my MA dissertation at the University of Bristol studied child portraiture in early modern England, exploring its symbolic dimensions of lineage, religion, and fragility. I have also worked on material culture and popular religiosity, particularly devotional materialities and their connections to heritage. Additionally, I have studied James McNeill Whistler’s visit to Valparaíso and presented occasional papers on artists such as Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma (1856- 1909) .

Since 2006 I have taught at the university level, mainly at Universidad de los Andes. I have offered courses in art history, material culture, and identity, and I have participated in undergraduate, master’s, and diploma programs. I have also supervised graduate research projects and contributed to extension courses. My teaching has combined historical content and the analysis of artworks with practical activities such as heritage visits and academic seminars. My main focus has been to introduce students to issues of art history from a perspective connected to material culture, visuality, historiography, and digital resources.
