Professional Information
Juan Sotes-Paladino has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne since 2012, and an Assistant Professor at the School of Business and Economics at Universidad de los Andes, Chile, since 2019. He obtained a PhD in Finance from the University of Southern California and a Licentiate degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires. His research focuses on the investment decisions and asset pricing implications of professional asset managers under different incentive arrangements and financial frictions. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Review of Financial Studies and the Journal of Banking and Finance. His research has won several awards, including the RoZetta Institute Best Paper Award, the Mirae Asset Securities Co., Ltd Outstanding Paper Award and the FIRN Annual Conference Best Paper Award. Prior to his academic career, Juan worked as economic consultant and as research analyst for over six years.
