Professional Information
Academic researcher and director and editor of documentaries. As a researcher, he has published a paper in Palabra Clave and three book chapters. His doctoral thesis deals with the use of commercial video games to strengthen teamwork. He has also presented at various international and national conferences. As a documentary director, he has released three documentaries on cable television and one at an international film festival in Chicago. As an editor, he has edited two feature films by American directors that have been released at various film festivals. As a professor, he has supervised five bachelor's theses.
Research interests
He began researching Transmedia Narratives, particularly in the Spider-Man multiverse and House of Cards. Transmedia Narratives led him to become interested in Alternate Reality Games, which in turn led him to video games. In the world of video games, he began by researching open-world video games, then video games as an educational tool, and is currently researching the world of eSports and Latin American video games, with a particular interest in the Chilean market, understood as a peripheral market.
Teaching
He began teaching multimedia narratives to journalists through collaborative projects with foreign universities. today he teaches advertising and audiovisual communication students courses in audiovisual production, documentaries, multimedia projects, Latin American cinema, and editing. He is also spearheading the introduction of video games as a discipline at the University of the Andes, leading a continuing education course in the video game industry, eSports, and gaming marketing, as well as a minor in video games and content distribution.
