Jorge Tricio is a Dental Surgeon and Professor (full) at the Universidad de los Andes, Santiago Chile, and works as a lecturer and researcher in higher education in the health sciences.

He has a Master of Science degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and a Doctorate (PhD) in Healthcare Higher Education from King's College London, United Kingdom.

Jorge Tricio's teaches health sciences education, with a focus on dental education and clinical teaching.

He is particularly involved in enhancing educational methodologies for health professionals. His expertise covers a range of areas, including curriculum development, student assessment, and the integration of advanced technologies like 3D modeling and virtual reality into clinical training.

He teaches and directs programs that aim to improve both preclinical and clinical education, helping students and educators transition from theoretical knowledge to practical, hands-on experiences in healthcare.

His main research interest focuses on the teaching and assessment of learning in healthcare education and in the development and evaluation of dental curricula. Thus, he was awarded and completed a Chilean National Fund for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Development (Fondecyt # 11150123) aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning in Dentistry through the Curricular Alignment Model.

He is currently developing a new Fondecyt Project (# 1200547) that seeks to improve the transition of dental students from simulation to real patients’ clinical work, through a new deliberate practice protocol, using new technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, as well as the practice of dental treatments with maxillary 3D printed models.
