Additional Research Interests

Food Engineer from the Universidad de Santiago de Chile and PhD in Engineering Sciences in the Chemistry and Bioprocesses area. She is currently a Professor at the School of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Faculty of Medicine and a researcher associated with the Center for Research and Biomedical Innovation (CIIB) of the Universidad de los Andes. She belongs to the Biopolymers Research and Engineering Laboratory (BiopRel) located at CIIB. She is promoting her line of research that is related to the study of biopolymers of natural origin and the transformation or processing of it, for the development of materials with application in food and nutrition, with special interest in the nutritional requirements of elderly population. In the last 5 years she has managed 1 ANID Insertion project and has participated in 12 Fondef, CORFO and / or Fondecyt projects as a co-investigator. She has been awarded 2 Post doctorate funds at the Universidad de los Andes and at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. As well as, she has received the Award for Excellence in Doctoral Thesis UC 2018, area of Engineering and Technologies. Her research has generated 4 indexed publications (SCOPUS) and 1 book chapter published internationally, and around 30 presentations at national and international conferences. At the national level, she collaborates with researchers from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Católica del Norte, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, and Universidad de la Frontera. She internationally collaborate with the University of Auckland, Oregon State University, and Tecnológico de Monterrey.
