Gustavo Funes es Profesor Asociado en la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Aplicadas de la Universidad de los Andes, Chile.
Obtuvo su título de Licenciado en Física y el grado de Doctor en Ciencias Físicas en la Universidad La Plata, Argentina.
Ha publicado 22 artículos en revistas indexadas WoS, y más de 23 trabajos en conferencias internacionales y nacionales. Ha liderado proyectos de investigación científica y aplicada en las áreas de óptica y energía solar.

His professional and research interests include image analysis, optical vortices, and solar photovoltaic energy.
