Professional Information
Licenciado en Derecho (LL.B.), Master in Legal Science (LL.M.), and Doctor of Laws (Ph.D. in Law) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. During his doctoral studies, he completed a research stay at Heidelberg University, Germany, funded by a DAAD scholarship. He has taught Civil Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Diego Portales, Universidad del Desarrollo, and other institutions. He currently holds the position of Ordinary Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Universidad de los Andes. He is the author of a monograph and several articles in his areas of expertise
Teaching
He has taught various courses in the Civil Law cycle and Roman Law at several institutions: Universidad Andrés Bello, Universidad Central, Universidad Católica del Norte (Coquimbo), Universidad del Desarrollo, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Diego Portales, and Universidad de Santiago de Chile, in addition to the Universidad de los Andes (Chile), where he currently holds a full-time position.
Research interests
The researcher's work has focused primarily on the Law of Obligations and Contracts. In particular, he has devoted his research to the study of the rules of contractual interpretation under the Chilean Civil Code from a historical-dogmatic and comparative perspective. Within this line of inquiry, he has also addressed selected topics in Consumer Law. He is currently applying this research to the proper understanding of the principal contractual clauses found in contemporary contracting practice.
