Personal profile

Professional Information

He studied Veterinary Medicine at the Catholic University of Temuco, Chile. He obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences from the Austral University of Chile. He completed his postdoctoral research at the University of the Andes. He is currently a faculty member and researcher at the Faculty of Medicine, University of the Andes.

Research interests

His research group is currently focused on two main lines of investigation. The first explores the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate neurogenesis, examining the role of genetic and environmental factors in the development and maturation of the central nervous system. The second line characterizes the biological processes involved in the onset and persistence of pain in osteoarticular pathologies, with emphasis on the interaction between sensory neurons and chondrocytes, as well as the analysis of signaling pathways implicated in pain chronification.

Teaching

Coordinator and Professor of the Minor in Physical Activity, Sport and Health at the School of Kinesiology, University of the Andes. Guest faculty in the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Sciences, University of the Andes. His main teaching areas are Well-being Neuroscience, Energy Metabolism, Nervous System Formation, and Pain Pathways.
