Dr. David Torres Pérez, MSc, is a Medical Anesthesiologist and Magister in Clinical Epidemiology. He has participated in international studies in perioperative medicine, being the principal investigator in Chile of the POISE-2, NeuroVISION studies and currently the POISE-3 study. His areas of interest are perioperative medicine, major cardiovascular complications, epidemiology, hypothermia and risk assessment in non-cardiac surgery, with various international and national publications. He is a member of the Scientific Committee for Research in Health Schools of the Universidad de Los Andes and of the Scientific Committee of the Society of Anesthesiology of Chile. He is a Full Professor at the University and does postgraduate classes in Anesthesiology, Epidemiology and directs a Clinical Research Internship in Anesthesiology. He has participated in multiple congresses of the specialty as a member of the organizing committee and lecturer on both anesthetic and epidemiological issues. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he participated in the recommendations of the Chilean Society of Anesthesiology for the management of COVID(+) patients and use of personal protective equipment, and was also appointed as a representative of said society before the COVID-19 Coordinating Committee of the Medical College of Chile.
