Professional Information

Forest Engineer from Universidad de Chile, MSc in Forest Resources and Coservation from University of Florida and PhD in Science from University of Melbourne. I have worked as an academic for nearly 10 years in universities in Chile, Australia and United States, carrying put applied science together with public and private institutions of the mentioned countries.

I've worked with the Ministry of Environment in Chile, the Melbourne Council in Australia and with the Forest Service in the United States, besides consulting for San Sebastian in Spain and with the government of British Columbia in Canada, justo to mention a few, always in topis related to urban forestry and ecosystem service assessment.

I am part of the Urban Ecology and Landscape Ecology group from the International Union of Foresters, an associate editor for Urban Forestry & Urban Greening since 2018, and I am part of the advisory board of AMBIO. I am also part of the Consultation Council for Parque Metropolitano Cerro Renca and for the Urban Forestry Network in Connecticut lead by The Nature Conservancy

Research interests

My research is focus in Urban forestry and urban ecology by studying the dynamics of urban socio-ecological systems drawing on ecosystem services assessment and spatial analysis as primary methods.

Her interests center on the quantitative monitoring of ecosystem services of nature-based solutions and understanding how this relates to social drivers and impacts such as planning policies, community participation and human well-being. More recently I am interested on how we can improve the provision of nature benefits for all communities, particularly targeting the improvement of health and well-being.

Teaching

My teaching area is focused on vegetation and natural resources, particularly in urban environments. I have taught courses in Green infrastructure, Landscape Ecology, Biogeography, Urban forests, Sustainable Urban Ecosystems, Global Sustainable Natural Resources, Forests and Climate Change, Biodiversity and Conservation, Scientific writing and reading, Plant Material.
