Dr. Cinthya Urquidi Bellota earned her Medical Degree in 2003 from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Bolivia. She holds a Master’s degree in Health Sciences with a specialization in Epidemiology from the same university (2006), a Master’s in Biostatistics from the School of Public Health at the University of Chile (2007), and a PhD in Public Health from the University of Chile (2014).
Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad de los Andes. Her academic career includes experience as a professor at the University of Chile and work as an epidemiologist at Hospital Parroquial San Bernardo.
Leads research in nutritional epidemiology, focusing on postnatal growth and chronic diseases associated with dietary patterns and body composition. She is also interested in suicide epidemiology, particularly prevention strategies in adolescents, and the application of life course epidemiology methods.
She has supervised 12 graduate theses within the Master’s in Epidemiology program at Universidad de los Andes, contributing to the training of new public health professionals.
Delivers courses in epidemiology and public health at Universidad de los Andes. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes applying epidemiological methods to public health challenges, promoting active learning and applied research among students.
Additionally, she has developed and led graduate programs, including the Master’s in Epidemiology and diplomas in Epidemiology and Digital Health, Biostatistics for Evidence-Based Practice, and Analytical Tools for Epidemiology.
