Personal profile
Professional Information
My academic career has focused on the study of teachers' career paths, professional development, and the impact of educational policies on the teaching profession. I have focused my research on key issues such as teacher attraction, mobility, retention, and well-being, with special attention to the early years of practice and the challenges faced by those working in vulnerable school contexts.
I have led and participated in research projects funded by ANID and national universities, including the Fondecyt project that I currently direct, which focuses on analyzing the challenges of teacher retention within the framework of the Teacher Professional Development System in Chile.
At the same time, I have collaborated in applied studies and technical consulting aimed at improving initial and continuing education, as well as strengthening sustainable career paths. This work is complemented by university teaching, the training of assistants, and participation in teacher transfer and support initiatives.
Research interests
My main research interests are divided into three complementary areas. First, the study of career paths and professional development in teaching, with a special emphasis on understanding the factors that favor sustainable career paths and the strengthening of the teaching profession.
Second, teacher attraction, mobility, and well-being, considering both the challenges teachers face in their early years of practice and the conditions that affect their retention.
Finally, I am interested in analyzing the impact of educational policies on the teaching profession, including initial training, mentoring, professional development systems, and regulatory frameworks that shape teachers' professional decisions.
